The Swara Samrat Festival is an all-India musical tour dedicated to the birth anniversary of legendary Bengali-Hindustani classical musician and Sarod exponent, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Spanning four cities, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the Concert is an initiative of Shree Ranjani Foundation Trust, powered by Incredible India and sponsored by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, co-sponsored by Senco Golds and Diamonds, Tata Steel, Tata Trynox Safes and Lockers, Life Insurance Corporation, Gainwell, State Bank Of India, Tata Me Talks, Peerless Hospital, Techno India University, Caring Minds, India Power and JIS Group.
The Kolkata-chapter of the event is going to take place at Nazrul Mancha, Southern Avenue from 15th December to 18th December and will involve musical geniuses from far and wide.
The programme is supposed to begin from 5p.m. on the first and second day and from 2p.m. on the rest two days. On 15th, the performing artists are Vid. Dr. L. Subramaniam (Carnatic Violin), Pt. Tanmoy Bose (Tabla), V.V.Ramana Murthy (Mridangam), N. Radhakrishnan (Ghatam), Ud. Rashid Khan (Vocal), Pt. Swapan Chaudhari (Tabla), Murad Ali Khan (Sarangi), Vinay Mishra (Harmonium), Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt (Mohan Veena), Pt. Subhen Chatterjee (Tabla). On 16th, we have Niladri Kumar (Sitar), Ud. Zakir Hussain (Tabla), Vidushi Manjusha Patil (Vocal), Pt. Samar Saha (Tabla), Vinay Mishra (Harmonium), Indrayuddh Majumder (Sarod) and Debjit Patitundi (Tabla). On 17th, the lineup is Guru Rama Vaidyanathan (Bharatnatyam), Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar (Vocals), Pt. Kumar Bose (Tabla), Gourab Chatterjee (Harmonium), Alam Khan (Harmonium), Pt. Yogesh Samsi (Tabla), Vidushi Kala Ramnath (Violin), Pt. Bickram Ghosh (Tabla), Omkar Dadarkar (Vocals), Sandip Ghosh (Tabla) and Sarwar Hussain (Sarangi) and on the final day of the event, the artists are Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia (Bansuri), Pt. Rakesh Chaurasia (Bansuri), Pt. Vijay Ghate (Tabla), Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty (Vocals), Yashwant Vaishnav (Tabla), Pt. Anindo Chatterjee (Tabla Solo), Hiranmay Mitra (Harmonium), Allarakha Kalawant (Sarangi), Vidushi Malini Awasthi (Vocals), Pt. Arvind Kumar Azad (Tabla), Pt. Dharamnath Mishra (harmonium), Pt. Taroon Bhattacharya (Santoor) and Pt. Kousic Sen (Tabla).
The Delhi-chapter of Swara Samrat, 2022 took place on July 23rd and 24th at Shri Ram Centre Of Performing Arts, New Delhi, which was a grand success and the Bangalore-chapter of the same is going to happen on 14th and 15th Jan, 2023 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.
